Dr. Hensen has been working in the field of otology and neurotology since 2008, first in Amsterdam and now at the Leiden University Medical Center (LUMC) in Leiden, the Netherlands. He focusses on skull base pathology and skull base surgery, and is a member of the dedicated NF2 multidisciplinary team. This team is part of the LUMC-based Leiden Skull Base Center, a recognized center of expertise for various skull base tumors, including vestibular schwannomas. As part of a skull base scholarship, he visited renowned skull base centers worldwide, learning from the best in the field. He is currently involved in both clinical care and research, focusing on NF2 and vestibular schwannoma biology, therapy, and improving care delivery.
