Prof. Ludwine Messiaen (PhD)

Ludwine Messiaen holds a BSc in Social Work from the Institute Psychosocial Education Kortrijk, Belgium and a MS and PhD in Molecular Biology and Cancer Genetics from the University Ghent, Belgium.

Since 2003 she served as the director of the Medical Genomics Laboratory at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, specializing in clinical testing for NF1, all rasopathies, and schwannomatoses. Amongst other, she developed RNA-based testing approaches early on, allowing characterization of the effect on splicing of exonic and intronic variants.
